AI, in salon terms

What the AI does for a salon

Describe the rule once in plain English. The workflow builder assembles it and asks before switching it on.

Wins back the client who went quietNo visit in eight weeks? A note in the salon's voice with her stylist's next openings. Still nothing at twelve? One more. Then it stops.
Proposes the rebook before she reaches the doorAt checkout, the next appointment at the client's usual interval is already suggested. Declined, and a text follows in two weeks.
Recovers the membership that failedA card declines on the 1st. The client gets a friendly text with a secure link, the retry runs, and the front desk sees any lapsed member at checkout.
Answers the phone during a colorOpenings, prices, parking, what to bring to a facial. The receptionist answers texts, chats and calls around the clock and books into the right stylist.
Payments built in

The card fee, back in the salon

A salon with nine stylists swipes a few hundred times a week. With a compliant dual-pricing program the menu posts a cash price and a card price up front, the terminal shows both, and the fee stops coming out of your margin.

  • Compliant dual pricing with signage included. Where a surcharge is used instead, it is capped at the lesser of 3% or your actual cost of acceptance (2% in Colorado and Oklahoma), and debit cards are never surcharged
  • Or interchange plus one small, disclosed margin, and you save on card fees versus flat-rate pricing. Send a statement and we show the math
  • Card on file for memberships, packages and no-show charges, with smart retries
  • Tip prompts after the service amount, reported per stylist
  • Countertop terminal at the desk or a mobile reader at the chair
  • Each salon holds its own merchant account with our processing partner

Plans for salons & spas

Which plan a salon picks

A solo stylist or a two-chair studio starts on Basic at $99/mo, credited back on your monthly processing statement while you process with Merch FinTech, so the software is on us: booking, invoicing, two-way texting, forms, one website, the client portal and two users. Salons with a team run on Pro at $299/mo ($249/mo billed annually): memberships and packages, win-back and rebooking automations, the AI receptionist, reviews and unlimited users. Pro is credited back at higher processing volumes. Compare plans. Need it built around how you run? Custom builds from $1,999.

A dedicated brand for med spas and salons is next on our brand roadmap. This edition is live today, and your account moves over with you when the brand goes live.

Banking and cards. Branded gift cards and business banking are provided through our partner bank and card program partners, subject to approval. See banking · See cards.
FAQ

Questions from salon owners

Can booth renters run under one roof?
Yes. A booth renter is her own business, so she holds her own merchant account with her own schedule and payouts, while the salon keeps one booking page, one client experience and one look. Rent collects by ACH on your schedule for a flat per-item fee instead of a percentage.
Does online booking handle processing time for color?
Yes. Services carry a processing gap, so a stylist can take a blowout or a cut while color develops. The booking page only offers slots that fit the stylist's real pattern, and double-booking rules are set per stylist.
How does dual pricing work in a salon?
The menu posts a cash price and a card price up front. The terminal shows both, the client picks, and the fee stops coming out of the ticket. Where a surcharge is used instead, it is capped at the lesser of 3% or your actual cost of acceptance (2% in Colorado and Oklahoma) and debit is never surcharged. Tips prompt after the service amount so clients tip on the service, and the program is configured to be compliant in your state.
What happens when a membership payment fails?
Card auto-updating catches most expired cards before they fail. When a charge does decline, the client gets a friendly text with a secure link, the platform retries on a schedule, and the front desk sees any lapsed membership at checkout.
Can we sell gift cards online?
Yes. Digital gift cards sell from the booking page and social links and deliver by email or text; physical cards sell at the desk. Balances and redemptions sit in the same ledger as every other payment, and every card is reported by stylist when it is redeemed.
